This piece, aptly named "Root of Relics," symbolizes not only the literal base of the tree but also serves as the origin from which all the other relics in my series have grown and evolved. Transforming a 45-kilo lump of fallen ash tree root into this masterpiece was no small undertaking.
The exterior features a hand-carved, intricate pattern that gracefully wraps and develops around the entire vessel. The meticulous carving process alone took approximately 35 hours, showcasing the dedication and craftsmanship poured into every detail.
Elevated on a set of hand-carved feet, the piece is designed to highlight the intricacies of the carving and draw the viewer's eye to its stunning details. The character and figure embedded within the wood reveal the story of the root's journey over the years, with all the stresses and strains reflected both on the rugged exterior and the smooth, beautifully sanded interior.
